Background
Derek is a Principal at FirstMark, where he leads consumer internet investments in marketplaces and social networks, including POSH, Pickle, and MetaLoop among others. He was previously at Airbnb, where he served as Chief of Staff to the Co-Founder & CSO, business operations lead for the Americas, and Corporate Development Principal (Deal Lead on $1B Series F, China strategic investments, and acquisition of Luxury Retreats).
Derek was previously a Senior Associate at Menlo Ventures, where he sourced investments in Synthego, Tenor (acquired by Google), and The Black Tux.
Derek began his career as an Analyst at Credit Suisse in TMT investment banking, and holds a B.S. in Finance with honors from The Wharton School. He is also a Kauffman Fellow (Class 29), Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, and Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
