We are thrilled to announce that FirstMark has led the Seed round for Dynamo, the world’s first AI native company for cinematic journalism. Dynamo pairs the best of world-class journalism with the immersive nature of video, delivered across every platform where you watch video – from YouTube to TikTok.

Media has long been a tough category, with high costs and low margins making it hard to scale. More recently, competition exploded as a tidal wave of creators proved that they could create faster, cheaper, and in many ways better content that connected with their audience in a deeper way.

The death of traditional media has been further accelerated by a proliferation of AI tools that massively accelerate the development and distribution of content. However, in a world where users are bombarded with endless choices when it comes to video content, it can be hard to know who to trust. In some cases, creators have deep expertise in a given area, and that allows them to build trust and continually put out high-quality content. In other categories, creators can lack the journalistic training and resources required to produce the depth of content that audiences crave, the result of which is a high volume of low-quality content.

Think of Dynamo as the best explainer videos you’ve ever seen, giving us all a behind-the-scenes view of how business explains the world. Dynamo will distill complex topics down to a digestible, fun format, for business enthusiasts everywhere. Born in an AI era, Dynamo can create videos much more efficiently than media companies of the past. And the topics it covers are durable, creating evergreen content that will compound over time as part of  a robust library.

This is the kind of company that could only be built in New York, where media and technology come together to serve people all over the world. The founders of Dynamo, Nicholas Carlson and Henry Blodget, built Business Insider from the ground up, winning countless awards including a Pulitzer Prize and National Magazine Award.

Nicholas, Dynamo’s CEO, joined Business Insider when it was still pre-launch. He also launched INSIDER, the digital video brand. Most recently, he served as Editor-in-Chief at Business Insider before leaving to found Dynamo. He is the perfect person to execute on this vision and create a community of Dynamos everywhere, and we couldn’t be more excited to be on that journey with him.
